The Power of In-Person Female Friendships in 2025

What’s Good: Uplifting News to Brighten Your Day

“Small acts of kindness can turn someone’s whole day around.”

Hi friends, welcome back to the blog for More Precious Than Rubies! I love kicking off each episode with a reminder that there truly is goodness in the world. In this week’s episode, I highlighted three heartwarming stories from the Good News Network that perfectly illustrate the impact of simple, selfless acts.

  1. Bus Driver's Heartwarming Pajama Gesture

Let me start with Larry Ferris Jr., a school bus driver from Kentucky whose compassion made all the difference for a little boy named Levi. When Levi forgot his pajamas on Pajama Day, Larry didn’t just drop him off and move on, he made a special trip to the store, bought a pair of pajamas, and returned to brighten Levi’s day. It’s moments like these that remind me how everyday heroes can uplift those around them by noticing a need and choosing to act.

  1. AI Detects Deepfake Videos

Another fascinating story is about new technology that uses artificial intelligence to spot AI-generated deepfakes. It’s a perfect example of using innovation for good, ensuring we’re better equipped to trust what we see in an increasingly digital world.

  1. Visit the Carlsbad Flower Fields This Month!

And if you’re in California (or close enough for a visit!), you won’t want to miss Carlsbad’s stunning flower fields, in full, glorious bloom thanks to the recent rain. Whether you experience kindness in your community or find joy in nature’s beauty, remember, there’s so much good out there if we only pause to see it.

What’s Her Story: Kathie Lee Gifford’s Faithful Influence

“Her journey is a beautiful example of how a woman can be bold in her beliefs…and continue to make a positive impact in the world.”

I’m continually inspired by women who boldly live their faith, no matter the stage or circumstance. This episode, I shared the story of Kathie Lee Gifford, an icon in television and Christian journalism, who’s modeled what it means to gracefully merge your beliefs with your career.

Kathie Lee’s decades as both a TV host and author show that it’s not only possible, but powerful, to be open about your faith in the secular world. I reflected on memories of watching her on the Today Show with my mom, always appreciating the way she spoke gently but unashamedly about her values. She’s also delved into faith-based storytelling through books and films, like her upcoming release Herod and Mary.

Through personal losses and triumphs, Kathie Lee has demonstrated the power of authenticity, kindness, and hope. She reminds us all that wherever we are—media, business, or the arts—we can let our values shape the way we love and serve others.

What’s Trending: The Power of Female Friendships and Community

“There’s definitely a call for a deepening of friendships that are more than just surface level on social media.”

Now, more than ever, women are craving authentic connection. Social media may make it look easy to stay in touch, but real friendship means moving beyond texts and comments to truly sharing life together. In the podcast, I referenced the loneliness epidemic affecting many women today, something I’ve felt myself after moving to new places or entering new life stages.

Scripture reminds us of the gift of community: “Two are better than one…If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” Even when it’s hard to take that first step, joining a new small group, calling rather than texting, or showing up for friend dates in person, it’s always worth it. The joys, laughter, and healing found in honest friendships enrich our faith and our lives. Whether it’s a coffee date, a phone call, or even a follow-up after this episode, take a small step toward deeper, authentic connection.
